Mining ESI competencies from ancient scriptures & evolving ‘triple s’ model
Hemanth Goparaj and Radha R Sharma
The study aimed to investigate whether competencies embedded in the ancient Indian scriptures, if extracted, have relevance to contemporary managers and if these could be measured. Also, if these have similarity to the modern emotional/social intelligence (ESI) competencies. Competencies were extracted, content, construct validity established and reliability was determined for a test to measure people competencies for social service organizations. Conducted in two phases on five samples using mixed method and triangulation, the study not only evolved the construct of Triple S competencies but also yielded that the ancient Indian scriptures provide the bedrock of contemporary organizational competencies.
