Veda and Vedāntic schools are dubbed as pre-scientific or philosophical and never as Science because of a definition based on objectivity and measurement. The advances in the fields of Astronomy, Mathematics, physiology, medicine, role and knowledge of self, now being discovered as consciousness, and the new definition of reality from the field of Quantum mechanics, at the very least, show that the Vedas supersede the current understanding of the Cosmos. Vedic Science builds a framework for the cosmos and its origin, besides describing Space, time, and matter, including the role of Ātmā [Self] and Manas [Mind], treating all of them as potentially equal roleplayers of the universe. This is specifically very clear in the Vaiśesika darśana, one among the six different Vedic schools. Each of the darśanas describes the nature of the Cosmos, reality, and ways of obtaining knowledge for the main purpose of happiness associated with a higher level of cognition, which is referred to as Ānanda in the Vedas. There are historical reasons why Vedic Science became Vedic Philosophy and got equated to religion and superstition. We will briefly overview those, then look at a comparison of actual accomplishments based on Vedic Science and modern Science, and then do a brief discussion on Vedic Science, and how it can enrich the current understanding of the Universe for social and mental well-being.
