The nature of mind in vaisheshika philosophy and modern science

The mind has intrigued humanity for centuries, being of interest not only to modern scientists but also to ancient philosophers. One of the ancient schools of Indian thought, Vaisheshika, provides interesting information regarding the mind. This article examines the Vaisheshika concept of the mind and outlines it in light of the work of contemporary neuroscience and psychology. The research examines the nature of the mind, its organization, and its operations and emphasizes the convergences, divergences, and complementary features of these two viewpoints. Therefore, the present study gives a balanced description of ancient and contemporary schools of thought in terms of grasping the complexities of the mind.
