This paper explores the concept of Memory or remembrance (Smr̥ti) as documented from the Vedas to modern times. It brings out the definition and purpose of Smr̥ti in the Vedas, the Upaniṣads, the Bhagavadgītā, six systems of Indian Philosophy, Advaita, Āyurveda and practical aspects of Yoga. It also highlights about modern brain researches done on memory by Neuroscientists in India, Europe, UK and the USA and how it can be enhanced. Thus, it is hoped that a comprehensive view about memory and it’s all dimensions helps in leading a pro-active life and development of one’s five-fold personality. This paper tries to relate the statements made in "Medhā Sükta" with the biomedical facet of a typical "Human personality" and brain neuron structure & intellectual activity. In this paper, the author discusses the above dimensions (in the Vedic Sükta) and also make a comparison of the structure and development of memory, intelligence and creativity in typical human brain (from modern angles) and thus it’s possible impact on modern civilization’s "Learning- Methodology" if it is fully "deciphered, understood and implemented" appropriately.
